Great Park 0-9 North Shields Athletic
Bill Gardner Cup 2nd Round
Saturday 17th October 2026

Newcastle Great Park is the largest housing development in the North East of England, situated five miles north of Newcastle city centre. The development is half way through a 30+ year building project, when they’ll be a total of over 4,000 houses built beyond 2030.
Great Park FC formed in 2018 with a senior side and junior teams. The juniors play at Great Park Community Centre, with the seniors playing their Northern Alliance fixtures at nearby Druid Park from 2022.
The ground is across the road from the community centre. The pitch is fully railed off with bench seats on the bank behind the goal. I was lucky to tick this one off because the match was switched from Druid Park as the ground was hosting an event.

After missing loads of chances and the home ‘keeper playing a blinder, Shields finally took the lead in the 35th minute when Bradburn scored direct from a corner, before he went on to complete his hat-trick by half time, as they took a 4-0 lead.

It was a question of how many they would score in the second half and they bagged another five, but it could have been well into double figures if it wasn't for Ethan Beynon in the Great Park goal.
