The club won its Premier Division in 1996-96, then went on to be champions a further five times and enjoyed major cup successes before they switched to Saturday football in 2007.

Horbury took the lead with a superb 30 yard free kick from Joe Jagger, but the hosts hit back with two goals in the space of five minutes, which looked to have settled it. However, Town equalised immediately, then went on to grab the winner deep into added on time.

I’m determined to finally complete the Northern Counties East grounds this season. So I made the effort with a rare two hour journey in the jam-jar, because I’m not too keen on driving distances nowadays, plus I’m eager to use my Over 60s Railcard for future ground bagging.
